爾已聞其僭妄矣、爾意若何、眾擬其宜死、

爾已聞其僭妄矣、爾意如何、眾擬曰、置之死、

爾曹已聞其褻瀆矣、爾意如何、眾擬之以死罪、

瀆主之言、諸位已親耳聞之、於意云何？』僉曰：『罪當死！』

“ You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?” They all condemned him as worthy of death.

“ You have heard him say a very evil thing against God. What do you think?” They all found him guilty and said he must die.

Anyone who blasphemes the Name of the Lord must be stoned to death by the whole community of Israel. Any native born Israelite or foreigner among you who blasphemes the Name of the Lord must be put to death.

Once again the people picked up stones to kill him.Jesus said,“ At my Father’s direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?”They replied,“ We’re stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God.”

The Jewish leaders replied,“ By our law he ought to die because he called himself the Son of God.”

Then the high priest tore his clothing to show his horror and said,“ Blasphemy! Why do we need other witnesses? You have all heard his blasphemy.What is your verdict?”“ Guilty!” they shouted.“ He deserves to die!”

So the Jewish leaders tried all the harder to find a way to kill him. For he not only broke the Sabbath, he called God his Father, thereby making himself equal with God.

In her letters she commanded:“ Call the citizens together for a time of fasting, and give Naboth a place of honor.And then seat two scoundrels across from him who will accuse him of cursing God and the king. Then take him out and stone him to death.”So the elders and other town leaders followed the instructions Jezebel had written in the letters.They called for a fast and put Naboth at a prominent place before the people.Then the two scoundrels came and sat down across from him. And they accused Naboth before all the people, saying,“ He cursed God and the king.” So he was dragged outside the town and stoned to death.

Jesus answered,“ I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I Am!”At that point they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden from them and left the Temple.

“ Why do we need other witnesses?” they said.“ We ourselves heard him say it.”
