And Pilate asked him,“ Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him,“ You have said so.”

Simon Peter replied,“ You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

The Jews answered him,“ We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has made himself the Son of God.”

do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world,‘ You are blaspheming,’ because I said,‘ I am the Son of God’?

I said,“ I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, so long as the wicked are in my presence.”I was mute and silent; I held my peace to no avail, and my distress grew worse.

When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

which he will display at the proper time— he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,

“ If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them,“ If I tell you, you will not believe,and if I ask you, you will not answer.But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”So they all said,“ Are you the Son of God, then?” And he said to them,“ You say that I am.”Then they said,“ What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”

Then Pilate said to him,“ So you are a king?” Jesus answered,“ You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world— to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”

Blessed are you, O Lord; teach me your statutes!

and behold, a voice from heaven said,“ This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

So the Jews gathered around him and said to him,“ How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”

I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me,“ You are my Son; today I have begotten you.

I am mute; I do not open my mouth, for it is you who have done it.

And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this:“ Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opens not his mouth.

And behold, they cried out,“ What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”

I and the Father are one.”The Jews picked up stones again to stone him.

This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.So Jesus said to them,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel.For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will.For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son,that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.“ Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

And Pilate again asked him,“ Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.”But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.

He entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus,“ Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.

But he remained silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him,“ Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”And Jesus said,“ I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”And the high priest tore his garments and said,“ What further witnesses do we need?

Nathanael answered him,“ Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”Jesus answered him,“ Because I said to you,‘ I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”And he said to him,“ Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
