Then some of them stood up. Here is what those false witnesses said about him.

But they did not find any proof, even though many false witnesses came forward. Finally, two other witnesses came forward.They said,“ This fellow claimed,‘ I am able to destroy the temple of God. I can build it again in three days.’ ”

They found witnesses who were willing to tell lies. These liars said,“ This fellow never stops speaking against this holy place. He also speaks against the law.We have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place. He says Jesus will change the practices that Moses handed down to us.”

Jeremiah finished telling all the people everything the Lord had commanded him to say. But as soon as he did, the priests, the prophets and all the people grabbed him. They said,“ You must die!Why do you prophesy these things in the Lord’ s name? Why do you say that this house will become like Shiloh? Why do you say that this city will be empty and deserted?” And all the people crowded around Jeremiah in the Lord’ s house.

Those who passed by shouted at Jesus and made fun of him. They shook their heads and said,“ So you are going to destroy the temple and build it again in three days?

Then the Jewish leaders asked him,“ What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do this?”Jesus answered them,“ When you destroy this temple, I will raise it up again in three days.”They replied,“ It has taken 46 years to build this temple. Are you going to raise it up in three days?”But the temple Jesus had spoken about was his body.

and said,“ So you are going to destroy the temple and build it again in three days? Then save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”

“ Micah from Moresheth prophesied. It was during the time Hezekiah was king over Judah. Micah spoke to all the people of Judah. He told them,‘ The Lord who rules over all says,“‘ “Zion will be plowed up like a field. Jerusalem will be turned into a pile of trash. The temple hill will be covered with bushes and weeds.” ’( Micah 3:12)
