有兩個無賴來，坐在拿伯對面。無賴當着百姓作證告他說：「拿伯詛咒上帝和王了！」眾人就把他拉到城外，用石頭打他，他就死了。

求你不要把我交給敵人，遂其所願；因為妄作見證的和口吐凶言的都起來攻擊我。

但是我告訴你們：凡向弟兄動怒的，必須受審判；凡罵弟兄是廢物的，必須受議會的審判；凡罵弟兄是白痴的，必須遭受地獄的火。

兇惡的見證人起來，盤問我所不知道的事。

就收買人來說：「我們聽見他說褻瀆摩西和上帝的話。」他們又煽動百姓、長老和文士，就突然來捉拿他，把他帶到議會去，設下假見證，說：「這個人不斷地說話，侮辱神聖的地方和律法。

過了五天，亞拿尼亞大祭司、幾個長老和一個叫帖土羅的律師下來，向總督控告保羅。保羅一被傳來，帖土羅就開始控告他，說：「腓力斯大人，我們因你得以享受國泰民安，並且這一國的弊病，因着你的遠見得以改革。我們隨時隨地都滿心感激不盡。為了不敢躭擱你太久，我只求你寬容一下，聽我們說幾句話。我們看這個人如同瘟疫一般，是鼓動普天下所有的猶太人作亂的人，又是拿撒勒教派裏的一個頭目。他甚至連聖殿也要污穢，我們就把他捉拿了。

祭司長和全議會尋找假見證控告耶穌，要處死他。雖然有好些人來作假見證，總找不到實據。最後有兩個人前來，

又叫兩個無賴坐在拿伯對面，作證告他說：『你詛咒了上帝和王。』然後把他拉出去用石頭打死。」

不過，要以溫柔、敬畏的心回答。要存無虧的良心，使你們在何事上被毀謗，就在何事上使那些凌辱你們在基督裏有好品行的人自覺羞愧。上帝的旨意若是要你們因行善受苦，這總比因行惡受苦好。因為基督也曾一次為罪受苦，就是義的代替不義的，為要引領你們到上帝面前。在肉體裏，他被治死；但在靈裏，他復活了。

那時，總長和總督在治國的事務上尋找但以理的把柄，為要控告他；只是找不到任何的把柄和過失，因他忠心辦事，毫無錯誤過失。
