有兩個無賴子一類的人來，坐在拿伯對面；無賴子當着眾民面前作見證告拿伯說：『拿伯曾經謗讟上帝和王』；眾人就把他拉出城外，拿石頭打他打到死。

不要把我交給敵人、去遂他們的心願哦；因為作假見證的人起來攻擊我，噴出兇暴來。

但是我告訴你們：凡向弟兄發怒的，必須擔受判罰；凡罵弟兄為「飯桶」的，必須擔受議院的判罰；凡罵弟兄為「傻瓜」的，必須擔受地獄的火。

於是他們教唆人說：『我們曾聽見他說了謗讟摩西和上帝的話。』他們又聳動了人民、長老和經學士、突然而來、抓住司提反，把他帶到議院，並且設下假見證說：『這個人不停地講話、蹧踐這聖地和律法。

過了五天，大祭司亞拿尼亞同幾個長老和一個律師帖士羅下來；他們將告保羅的事稟報了總督。保羅被傳了來，帖士羅開始控告說：『腓力斯大人，我們因了大人得以大享泰平。因了大人的籌謀，這一國裏在各方面各處都有改良。我們極感謝地領受。但為了避免多躭擱大人，我就求大人、請溫良柔和聽我們簡截地說。我們查出這個人簡直是瘟疫，在普天下眾猶太人中攪動亂事，又是拿撒勒派的一個頭目。連聖殿他也試圖要褻瀆；我們就把他抓住了；

祭司長和全議院直尋假見證告耶穌，好治死他；卻找不着，雖則有許多假證人上前來。後來有兩個人上前來，

又叫兩個無賴子一類的人坐在拿伯對面，作見證告他說：「你曾經謗讟上帝和王」；隨即把他拉出去、拿石頭打他、打到他死去。』

持守着純善的良知，使你們在甚麼事上被毁謗，就在甚麼事上可以叫誣衊你們在基督裏的好品行的人自覺慚愧。你們行善而受苦，如果上帝的旨意願意這樣，總比行惡而受苦的好啊。因為基督也曾儘一次為我們的罪而受死，義的替不義的，為要領我們進到上帝面前。在肉身裏、他是被處死了，但在靈裏、他卻得存活了。

那時總長和總督卻想法子找到關於誤國的把柄來控告但以理；可是任何把柄或腐敗都找不到，因為但以理忠信可靠，任何疏失或腐敗都找不到可告他。
