求你不要照着我敌人的心愿，把我交给他们，因为有作假见证的人起来攻击我，并且口出凶暴的话。

可是我告诉你们，凡是向弟兄发怒的，都要被判罪。谁若骂弟兄：‘你这蠢货！（蠢货：原文音译是“拉加”，是亚兰文侮辱别人的用语。）’，就要被公议会判罪；谁若骂：‘你这白痴！（白痴：原文是希腊文骂人的词语，但是有少数学者认为这词语是源于希伯来文，而把它音译为“魔利”，意思是“叛徒”。）’，就罪该送入烈火的地狱。

强暴的见证人起来，盘问我所不知道的事。

于是他们唆使众人，说：“我们听过他说谤渎摩西和神的话。”又煽动民众、长老、经学家，这些人就来捉拿他，把他带到公议会，并且造了假的证供说：“这人不断抨击圣地和律法。

过了五天，大祭司亚拿尼亚同几个长老，和一个律师帖土罗来了，他们向总督控告保罗。保罗传来了之后，帖土罗就控诉他说：“腓力斯大人，因着你的缘故，我们大大地享受着太平；因着你的远见，本国大事改革；我们随时随地感激不尽。现在我不想多烦扰你，只求你宽容一下，听我们讲几句话。我们看这个人就像瘟疫一样，是煽动普天下犹太人生乱的人，又是拿撒勒派的首领。他还意图污秽圣殿，我们就把他捉住。（有些抄本在此有以下一段：“我们想按照我们的律法审问他。7可是千夫长吕西亚来了，用武力把他从我们手中抢走，8还吩咐原告到你这里来。”）

祭司长和公议会全体都想找假证供来控告耶稣，好把他处死；虽然有许多人前来作假证供，却找不着证据。最后有两个人前来说：

又叫两个匪徒坐在拿伯的对面，作见证控告他说：‘你曾经咒诅神和君王’；然后把他拉出去，用石头把他打死。”

但要用温柔敬畏的心回答。当存无愧的良心，使那些诬赖你们这在基督里有好品行的人，在毁谤你们的事上蒙羞。如果神的旨意是要你们受苦，那么为行善受苦，总比为行恶受苦好。因为基督也曾一次为你们的罪死了，就是义的代替不义的，为要领你们到神面前。就肉体的方面说，他曾死去；就灵的方面说，他复活了；

于是这些监察司和总督在但以理治国的事上，寻找把柄控告他，只是不能找到任何的把柄和过失，因为他忠心可靠，他们找不到他的任何错误和过失。
