忽然，有一个和耶稣一起的人伸手拔出刀来，把大祭司的仆人砍了一刀，削掉了他一只耳朵。耶稣对他说：“收刀入鞘吧！凡动刀的，必死在刀下。你想我不能求我父，现在为我差遣比十二营还多的天使来吗？若是这样，经上所说事情必须如此发生的话怎么应验呢？”

左右的人见了要发生的事，就说：“主啊，我们拿刀砍好不好？”其中有一个人把大祭司的仆人砍了一刀，削掉了他的右耳。耶稣回答说：“算了，住手吧！”就摸那人的耳朵，把他治好了。

西门‧彼得带着一把刀，就拔出来，把大祭司的仆人砍了一刀，削掉了他的右耳，那仆人名叫马勒古。于是耶稣对彼得说：“收刀入鞘吧！我父给我的杯，我岂可不喝呢？”
