及返、見諸徒皆睡、呼伯鐸祿曰：『西門睡耶？竟弗克儆守半晷！

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping.“ Simon,” he said to Peter,“ are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour?

比返、見門徒已睡、謂伯鐸祿曰：『竟不能與予儆守片時耶？

顯現於榮光之中、共論耶穌將在耶路撒冷致命遂志之事。是時、伯鐸祿及其伴、昏昏欲睡比醒、則見耶穌光采煥發、二人與之同立。

而甘嘗垢辱、毅然肩負苦架。今則安坐天主寶位之右矣。爾等當細心體驗、耶穌當時如何忍受群小之拂逆、庶幾不致灰心而自餒。

伯鐸祿曰：『即使眾皆傾蹶、予也則否。』耶穌曰：『吾實告汝、今宵雞未二嗚、行見爾三不認予矣！』伯鐸祿力辯曰：『即須偕子致命、亦決不否認也！』餘子亦同聲矢誠。

再返、見諸徒仍睡、厥目昏沉、不知所對、三返、謂徒曰：『為時無多、爾且小休。已矣！時至矣！人子即將被付於罪人之手！

禱畢而起、至門徒處、見其困憂而睡、謂之曰：『胡為睡耶？起而禱！庶免陷誘。』

新壻稽遲、皆假寐而寢。

故吾人不欲效世人之醉生夢死、常宜昭昭惺惺、淡泊有節。蓋沉睡者必於昏夜、狂飲者亦必於昏夜。吾人既屬旦晝、可不恆懷惕若、終日乾乾、擁信愛以為甲、戴望德以為胄、而期待救恩乎。
