遂返、見門徒寢、謂彼得曰、西門、爾寢乎、爾不能警醒片時乎、

及返、見諸徒皆睡、呼伯鐸祿曰：『西門睡耶？竟弗克儆守半晷！

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping.“ Simon,” he said to Peter,“ are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour?

They appeared in glory and were speaking of His death, which He was about to accomplish in Jerusalem.Peter and those with him were in a deep sleep, and when they became fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who were standing with Him.

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, so that you won’t grow weary and lose heart.

“ Is this your loyalty to your friend?” Absalom asked Hushai.“ Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

Peter told Him,“ Even if everyone runs away, I will certainly not!”“ I assure you,” Jesus said to him,“ today, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times!”But he kept insisting,“ If I have to die with You, I will never deny You!” And they all said the same thing.

And He came again and found them sleeping, because they could not keep their eyes open. They did not know what to say to Him.Then He came a third time and said to them,“ Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The time has come. Look, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.

When He got up from prayer and came to the disciples, He found them sleeping, exhausted from their grief.“ Why are you sleeping?” He asked them.“ Get up and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation.”

Since the groom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

If you have raced with runners and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in a peaceful land, what will you do in the thickets of the Jordan?

So then, we must not sleep, like the rest, but we must stay awake and be serious.For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.But since we belong to the day, we must be serious and put the armor of faith and love on our chests, and put on a helmet of the hope of salvation.

The captain approached him and said,“ What are you doing sound asleep? Get up! Call to your god. Maybe this god will consider us, and we won’t perish.”
