耶穌偕其徒至一園地、名日色瑪尼、謂之曰：『爾曹坐此、俟予往禱。』乃攜伯鐸祿及慈伯德二子同行。時憂自中生、戚然興悲、顧謂三徒曰：『予心鬱悒、憂傷欲絕。爾等且留此與予同為儆守。』稍前行、伏地而禱曰：『吾父乎、事苟可能、請免我飲此苦爵。雖然、勿順予意、但遵父旨。』比返、見門徒已睡、謂伯鐸祿曰：『竟不能與予儆守片時耶？宜警惕祈禱、庶免墮誘；心志雖堅、形軀實荏。』再往禱曰：『吾父、此爵苟不能移、而必欲予飲者、惟父旨是行。』復返、門徒仍睡、蓋厥目昏昏、不能自支。乃捨之、更往祈禱、是為三次、稟白如前。既返、謂門徒曰：『爾今可臥以暫憩矣！惟時立至、人子將陷於罪人之手。起矣！吾儕行矣！鬻我者近矣！』

殺氣氤氳兮纏身。狂濤氾濫兮驚魂。幽冥之索綯重重。死地之羅網紛紛。

耶穌出、至其常遊之忠果山、諸徒從。既至、諭諸徒曰：『宜虔禱、庶免陷誘。』主乃前行、離徒約擲石之地、跪而禱曰：『父若願者、請免我飲此爵；雖然、勿順吾意、惟遵爾旨。』有天神降現、加以慰勉、時耶穌憂鬱至極、祈禱彌切、汗如血珠、滴滴入地、禱畢而起、至門徒處、見其困憂而睡、謂之曰：『胡為睡耶？起而禱！庶免陷誘。』

言畢偕諸徒出過翠柏澗入山園。耶穌常偕其徒遊此、故奸徒茹答斯亦稔其地。時茹答斯乃領兵士一隊、與司祭長法利塞人所派人員、提燈炬、執武器而至。耶穌夙知諸事之必臨於身、乃出而謂之曰：『爾等覓誰？』眾對曰：『納匝勒之耶穌！』耶穌告之曰：『是我！』時奸徒茹答斯亦立眾中。耶穌甫言：「是我、」眾皆逡巡仆地。耶穌乃復問曰：『爾等覓誰？』眾曰『納匝勒之耶穌也！』耶穌曰：『已語爾是我；既欲執我、請勿累及此輩、任其散去。』此亦所以應驗其所言「凡父所賜於予者、一無所失」云耳。西門伯鐸祿乃抽所佩刃、擊大司祭僕、名馬勒古者、削其右耳。耶穌謂伯鐸祿曰『收刃入鞘、父所賜我之爵、可不飲乎？』
