他向众人讲话，没有不用比喻的。可是，他却单独给自己的门徒们解释一切。

当耶稣和门徒们临近耶路撒冷，来到橄榄山附近的伯法其的时候，耶稣派了两个门徒，

门徒们上前来，问耶稣：“你对他们讲话，为什么用比喻呢？”

耶稣从加利利湖边经过，看见西门和他弟弟安得烈，正在湖里撒网；他们本来是渔夫。耶稣就对他们说：“来跟从我！我将要使你们成为得人的渔夫。”他们立刻舍弃渔网，跟从了耶稣。稍往前走，耶稣看见西庇太的儿子雅各和他弟弟约翰。他们正在船上修补渔网。

然后他除了彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟约翰以外，不准别的人跟着。

过了六天，耶稣带着彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟约翰，领他们悄悄地上了一座高山。

耶稣在橄榄山上坐着，门徒们悄悄地前来问他：“请告诉我们，这些事什么时候会发生呢？你的来临和这世代的终结会有什么预兆呢？”

听见了约翰的话而跟从耶稣的两个人中，有一个是西门彼得的弟弟安得烈。安得烈先去找自己的哥哥西门，对他说：“我们找到了弥赛亚。”——“弥赛亚”翻译出来就是“基督”。

然后，耶稣离开了人群，进了屋子。他的门徒们上前来，说：“请给我们解释一下田里稗子的比喻。”

过了六天，耶稣只带着彼得、雅各、约翰，领他们悄悄地上了一座高山。在他们面前，耶稣变了形像。

这时候，西庇太的儿子雅各和约翰来到耶稣面前，说：“老师，如果我们向你求什么，希望你为我们成全。”
