不用比喻，就不對他們講。只有單獨和自己的門徒在一起的時候，才把一切解釋給他們聽。

耶穌和門徒走近耶路撒冷，來到橄欖山的伯法其那裡。耶穌派了兩個門徒，

門徒上前問耶穌：“你對他們講話，為甚麼用比喻呢？”

耶穌沿著加利利海邊行走，看見西門和他弟弟安得烈在海上撒網；他們是漁夫。耶穌就對他們說：“來跟從我，我要使你們成為得人的漁夫。”他們立刻撇下網，跟從了他。耶穌稍往前走，看見西庇太的兒子雅各，和雅各的弟弟約翰，正在船上整理魚網，

於是他不許別人跟他一起去，只帶了彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰。

過了六天，耶穌帶著彼得、雅各和雅各的弟弟約翰，領他們悄悄地上了高山。

耶穌坐在橄欖山上，門徒暗中前來問他：“請告訴我們，甚麼時候會有這些事呢？你的降臨和這世代的終結，有甚麼預兆呢？”

聽了約翰的話而跟從耶穌的那兩個人，一個是西門．彼得的弟弟安得烈。他先找到自己的哥哥西門，告訴他：“我們遇見彌賽亞了！”（“彌賽亞”的意思就是“基督”。）

耶穌離開群眾，進到屋裡，門徒前來問他：“請你給我們解釋田裡稗子的比喻。”

過了六天，耶穌帶著彼得、雅各、約翰，領他們悄悄地上了高山，在他們面前改變了形象。

西庇太的兒子雅各、約翰，來到耶穌跟前，對他說：“老師，我們無論向你求甚麼，願你為我們作成。”

他帶了彼得、雅各、約翰一起去，就驚懼起來，非常難過。
