如果不是主減少了那些日子，就沒有一個人能得救。然而，為了那些蒙揀選的人，就是他所揀選的，他減少了那些日子。

若不是主减少那日子，凡有血气的，总没有一个得救的；只是为主的选民，他将那日子减少了。

若不是主减少那些日子，凡血肉之躯的，就没有一个能得救；但是为了他所拣选的选民，他将那些日子减少了。

若主不稍減其日、則無一人得救、惟天主為其所救之選民、已稍減其日、

主若不減其時日、則血氣之倫、將無遺孑！惟為選民之故、主必減之耳。

“ If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.

In fact, unless the Lord shortens that time of calamity, not a single person will survive. But for the sake of his chosen ones he has shortened those days.

耶和華如此說：「當新酒在累累葡萄中被發現時，人怎樣說：『不要毀滅它，因為有祝福在其中』，我也要怎樣做——為我僕人們的緣故，不把一切都毀滅。我必使後裔從雅各而出，使我眾山的繼承人從猶大而來；我的選民必擁有那地，我的僕人們必居住在那裡。

如果那些日子不被減少，就沒有一個人能得救。可是為了那些蒙揀選的人，那些日子將被減少。

就福音而言，他們因你們的緣故，固然是神的敵人；但就揀選而言，他們因祖先的緣故，卻是蒙愛的，因為神的恩賜和召喚是不撤回的。正如你們以前不肯信從神而現在卻因他們的不信從反而蒙了憐憫；照樣，他們如今也不肯信從，為要藉著你們所蒙的憐憫，讓他們現在也可以蒙憐憫，因為神把所有的人都圈在不信從之中，是為了要憐憫所有的人。

耶和華宣告：「全地的人必有三分之二被剪除而死，有三分之一存留下來。我必使這三分之一進入火中，熬煉他們如熬煉銀子，察驗他們如察驗金子。他們將呼求我的名，我必應允他們。我必說：『他們是我的子民。』他們也必說：『耶和華是我們的神。』」

這地必被再次焚燒，其中還會有十分之一的人存留，就像黃連樹和橡樹被砍伐，其中還會有樹樁存留；聖潔的後裔就是這樹樁。」

而且，那些被折下來的樹枝如果不再堅持不信，也將被接上，因為神能夠把他們重新接上。要知道，如果你從天然的野橄欖樹上被砍下來，尚且能違反自然、被接在栽培的橄欖樹上，何況那些原生的樹枝，難道不更能接在自己的橄欖樹上嗎？

照樣，在現今的時刻也有剩餘的少數，就是藉著恩典蒙揀選的人。既然藉著恩典，就不再本於行為了；否則，恩典就不再是恩典了。所以怎麼樣呢？以色列人並沒有獲得他們所尋求的，蒙揀選的人卻獲得了，而其餘的人都成了剛硬的，

要不是萬軍之耶和華給我們留下了一些幸存者，我們早就變得像所多瑪、格摩拉那樣了！
