And they realized that they had been with Jesus.And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,saying,“ What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.”So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.But Peter and John answered and said to them,“ Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done.For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed.

These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Then said I:“ Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”But the Lord said to me:“ Do not say,‘ I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak.Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me:“ Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king,“ O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

“ The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue.

Then Moses said to the Lord,“ O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”So the Lord said to him,“ Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.”

“ But watch out for yourselves, for they will deliver you up to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues. You will be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony to them.

To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven— things which angels desire to look into.

John answered and said,“ A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.

“ The Lord GOD has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.

and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel,for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.

But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.
