“耶路撒冷，耶路撒冷啊，你殺害先知，又用石頭把奉派到你們那裡的人打死。我多次想招聚你的兒女，好像母雞招聚小雞到翅膀底下，只是你們不願意。

佃戶卻抓住他的僕人，打傷一個，殺了一個，又用石頭打死一個。於是園主再派其他的僕人去，人數比前一次更多，但佃戶也是同樣對付他們。

你多年容忍他們，你的靈藉著你的眾先知勸戒他們，他們還是不側耳而聽，所以你把他們交在各地的民族手中。

你們要仁慈像你們的父仁慈一樣。

世人為人子的緣故憎恨你們、排斥你們、辱罵你們，棄絕你們的名好像棄絕惡物，你們就有福了。那時你們應該歡喜跳躍，因為你們在天上的賞賜是大的，他們的祖先對待先知也是這樣。

其餘的抓住王的僕人，凌辱他們，並且把他們殺了。

你們應該歡喜快樂，因為你們在天上的賞賜是大的；在你們以前的先知，他們也曾這樣迫害。

其實我告訴你們，以利亞已經來了，他們卻任意待他，正如經上指著他所說的。”

自從你們列祖出埃及地的那日直到今日，我差遣我的僕人眾先知到你們那裡去，而且是每日不斷差遣。你們（“你們”原文作“他們”）卻沒有聽從，毫不留心，反倒硬著頸項行惡，比你們（“你們”原文作“他們”）的列祖還厲害。“你要把這一切話告訴他們，他們卻不聽從你；你呼叫他們，他們也不回應。然而，你要對他們說：‘這就是不聽從耶和華他們神的話，不受管教的國；誠實喪盡，並已從他們的口中斷絕了。
