“耶路撒冷啊！耶路撒冷啊！你常杀害先知，又用石头打死派到你那里的使者。我多次想要招聚你的儿女，像母鸡将小鸡聚集在翅膀底下，可是你们却不肯。

但那些佃户却抓住他的奴仆，打伤一个，杀死一个，又用石头打死了一个。于是，园主又派更多的奴仆去，结果也遭到同样的对待。

你多年来容忍他们，差遣你的灵借着你的众先知警告他们，但他们依然不肯听从，于是你把他们交在列邦手中。

你们要怜悯人，像你们的天父怜悯人一样。

你们为人子的缘故而遭人憎恨、弃绝、侮辱、毁谤，就有福了！那时你们要欢喜雀跃，因为你们在天上有大赏赐！他们的祖先也曾这样恶待以前的先知。

其余的竟然抓住王的奴仆，把他们羞辱一番后杀了。

要欢喜快乐，因为你们在天上有很大的奖赏。他们也曾这样迫害以前的先知。

其实我告诉你们，以利亚已经来了，人们却任意对待他，正如圣经的记载。”

从你们的祖先离开埃及那天起，一直到今天，我日复一日地差遣我的仆人——众先知到你们那里，但你们掩耳不听，顽固不化，比你们的祖先更邪恶。耶利米啊，你将这番话告诉他们，他们也不会听；你向他们呼吁，他们也不会回应。你要对他们说，‘你们这些国民不听你们上帝耶和华的话，不肯受管教，口中毫无真理。
