耶穌又訓曰：『當防經生、若輩喜長服而行、受敬於市、

As he taught, Jesus said,“ Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted with respect in the marketplaces,

Jesus also taught:“ Beware of these teachers of religious law! For they like to parade around in flowing robes and receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces.

He also said in his teaching,“ Beware of the scribes, who want to go around in long robes and who want greetings in the marketplaces,

And in His teaching He was saying:“ Beware of the scribes who like to walk around in long robes, and like personal greetings in the marketplaces,

And in his teaching he said, Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and to have salutations in the marketplaces,

He also said in His teaching,“ Beware of the scribes, who want to go around in long robes, and who want greetings in the marketplaces,

And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and[ love] salutations in the marketplaces,

In his teaching Jesus also said,“ Watch out for the experts in the law. They like walking around in long robes and elaborate greetings in the marketplaces,

In his teaching he said to them,“ Beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, and to get greetings in the marketplaces,

Then Jesus spoke to the multitudes and to His disciples,saying:“ The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments.They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues,greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men,‘ Rabbi, Rabbi.’

Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces.

Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples,“ Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts,who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”

“ And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching:

But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues.

So He told a parable to those who were invited, when He noted how they chose the best places, saying to them:“ When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in the best place, lest one more honorable than you be invited by him;and he who invited you and him come and say to you,‘ Give place to this man,’ and then you begin with shame to take the lowest place.But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you,‘ Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you.For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
