我朝见耶和华，在至高神面前跪拜，当献上什么呢？岂可献一岁的牛犊为燔祭吗？耶和华岂喜悦千千的公羊，或是万万的油河吗？我岂可为自己的罪过献我的长子吗？为心中的罪恶献我身所生的吗？世人哪，耶和华已指示你何为善。他向你所要的是什么呢？只要你行公义，好怜悯，存谦卑的心，与你的神同行。

我喜爱良善，不喜爱祭祀；喜爱认识神，胜于燔祭。

撒母耳说：“耶和华喜悦燔祭和平安祭，岂如喜悦人听从他的话呢？听命胜于献祭；顺从胜于公羊的脂油。

‘我喜爱怜恤，不喜爱祭祀。’你们若明白这话的意思，就不将无罪的当作有罪的了。

经上说：‘我喜爱怜恤，不喜爱祭祀。’这句话的意思，你们且去揣摩。我来本不是召义人，乃是召罪人。”

我并不因你的祭物责备你；你的燔祭常在我面前。我不从你家中取公牛，也不从你圈内取山羊；因为，树林中的百兽是我的，千山上的牲畜也是我的。山中的飞鸟，我都知道；野地的走兽也都属我。我若是饥饿，我不用告诉你，因为世界和其中所充满的都是我的。我岂吃公牛的肉呢？我岂喝山羊的血呢？你们要以感谢为祭献与神，又要向至高者还你的愿，并要在患难之日求告我；我必搭救你，你也要荣耀我。”

我若能说万人的方言，并天使的话语，却没有爱，我就成了鸣的锣，响的钹一般。我若有先知讲道之能，也明白各样的奥秘，各样的知识，而且有全备的信，叫我能够移山，却没有爱，我就算不得什么。我若将所有的周济穷人，又舍己身叫人焚烧，却没有爱，仍然与我无益。

耶和华说：“你们所献的许多祭物与我何益呢？公绵羊的燔祭和肥畜的脂油，我已经够了；公牛的血，羊羔的血，公山羊的血，我都不喜悦。“你们来朝见我，谁向你们讨这些，使你们践踏我的院宇呢？你们不要再献虚浮的供物。香品是我所憎恶的；月朔和安息日，并宣召的大会，也是我所憎恶的；作罪孽，又守严肃会，我也不能容忍。你们的月朔和节期，我心里恨恶，我都以为麻烦；我担当，便不耐烦。你们举手祷告，我必遮眼不看；就是你们多多地祈祷，我也不听。你们的手都满了杀人的血。你们要洗濯、自洁，从我眼前除掉你们的恶行，要止住作恶，学习行善，寻求公平，解救受欺压的；给孤儿伸冤，为寡妇辨屈。”

凡以感谢献上为祭的便是荣耀我；那按正路而行的，我必使他得着我的救恩。”

这样禁食岂是我所拣选、使人刻苦己心的日子吗？岂是叫人垂头像苇子，用麻布和炉灰铺在他以下吗？你这可称为禁食、为耶和华所悦纳的日子吗？“我所拣选的禁食不是要松开凶恶的绳，解下轭上的索，使被欺压的得自由，折断一切的轭吗？不是要把你的饼分给饥饿的人，将飘流的穷人接到你家中，见赤身的给他衣服遮体，顾恤自己的骨肉而不掩藏吗？

行仁义公平比献祭更蒙耶和华悦纳。

“我厌恶你们的节期，也不喜悦你们的严肃会。你们虽然向我献燔祭和素祭，我却不悦纳，也不顾你们用肥畜献的平安祭；要使你们歌唱的声音远离我，因为我不听你们弹琴的响声。惟愿公平如大水滚滚，使公义如江河滔滔。

万军之耶和华以色列的神如此说：“你们将燔祭加在平安祭上，吃肉吧！因为我将你们列祖从埃及地领出来的那日，燔祭平安祭的事我并没有提说，也没有吩咐他们。我只吩咐他们这一件说：‘你们当听从我的话，我就作你们的神，你们也作我的子民。你们行我所吩咐的一切道，就可以得福。’

以上说：“祭物和礼物，燔祭和赎罪祭，是你不愿意的，也是你不喜欢的（这都是按着律法献的）”；
