What should I bring before the LORD when I come to bow before God on high? Should I come before him with burnt offerings, with year-old calves?Would the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams or with ten thousand streams of oil? Should I give my firstborn for my transgression, the offspring of my body for my own sin?Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the LORD requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.

For I desire faithful love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

Then Samuel said: Does the LORD take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? Look: to obey is better than sacrifice, to pay attention is better than the fat of rams.

If you had known what this means, I desire mercy and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the innocent.

If I speak human or angelic tongues but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.And if I give away all my possessions, and if I give over my body in order to boast but do not have love, I gain nothing.

“ What are all your sacrifices to me?” asks the LORD.“ I have had enough of burnt offerings and rams and the fat of well-fed cattle; I have no desire for the blood of bulls, lambs, or male goats.When you come to appear before me, who requires this from you— this trampling of my courts?Stop bringing useless offerings. Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons and Sabbaths, and the calling of solemn assemblies— I cannot stand iniquity with a festival.I hate your New Moons and prescribed festivals. They have become a burden to me; I am tired of putting up with them.When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will refuse to look at you; even if you offer countless prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood.“ Wash yourselves. Cleanse yourselves. Remove your evil deeds from my sight. Stop doing evil.Learn to do what is good. Pursue justice. Correct the oppressor. Defend the rights of the fatherless. Plead the widow’s cause.

Whoever offers a thanksgiving sacrifice honors me, and whoever orders his conduct, I will show him the salvation of God.”

Will the fast I choose be like this: A day for a person to deny himself, to bow his head like a reed, and to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Will you call this a fast and a day acceptable to the LORD?Isn’t this the fast I choose: To break the chains of wickedness, to untie the ropes of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to tear off every yoke?Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your house, to clothe the naked when you see him, and not to ignore your own flesh and blood?

Doing what is righteous and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

I hate, I despise, your feasts! I can’t stand the stench of your solemn assemblies.Even if you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; I will have no regard for your fellowship offerings of fattened cattle.Take away from me the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps.But let justice flow like water, and righteousness, like an unfailing stream.

This is what the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, says:“ Add your burnt offerings to your other sacrifices, and eat the meat yourselves,for when I brought your ancestors out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak with them or command them concerning burnt offering and sacrifice.However, I did give them this command:‘ Obey me, and then I will be your God, and you will be my people. Follow every way I command you so that it may go well with you.’

After he says above, You did not desire or delight in sacrifices and offerings, whole burnt offerings and sin offerings( which are offered according to the law),
