Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant.It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered,it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away with; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away with.

Then he* said to Him,“ Which ones?” And Jesus said,“ You shall not commit murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not give false testimony;Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

You shall not take vengeance, nor hold any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord.

And he answered,“ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”

If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture,“ You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the Law as violators.For whoever keeps the whole Law, yet stumbles in one point, has become guilty of all.For He who said,“ Do not commit adultery,” also said,“ Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do murder, you have become a violator of the Law.So speak, and so act, as those who are to be judged by the law of freedom.For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers’ hands?”And he said,“ The one who showed compassion to him.” Then Jesus said to him,“ Go and do the same.”

‘ You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired worker are not to remain with you all night until morning.
