Jesus replied,“ The most important commandment is this:‘ Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.

耶穌回答：「最重要的是：『以色列啊，你當聽好！主——我們的神，是獨一的主。

耶穌曰、其首云、以色列其聽之、主、我儕之上帝、惟一耳、

耶穌曰、諸誡首云、以色列民聽之哉、主即我之上帝、一主耳、

耶穌答曰、諸誡之首云、以色列人、聽之哉、主我天主、乃獨一之主、

耶穌曰：『首云、義塞其諦聽、爾上主天主為唯一主宰。

“ The most important one,” answered Jesus,“ is this:‘ Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Jesus answered,“ The most important is Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Jesus answered,“ The foremost is,‘ Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one;

Jesus answered him,“ The first of all the commandments is:‘ Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one:

“ This is the most important,” Jesus answered: Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is One.

And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments[ is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Jesus answered,“ The most important is:‘ Listen, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Jesus answered,“ The greatest is,‘ Hear, Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one:

“ Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.

Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when he gave his promise to Abraham.

There is only one God, and he makes people right with himself only by faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.

So, what about eating meat that has been offered to idols? Well, we all know that an idol is not really a god and that there is only one God.

All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.

The man answered,“‘ You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And,‘ Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.

“ The Lord your God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live!

For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity— the man Christ Jesus.

The teacher of religious law replied,“ Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth by saying that there is only one God and no other.And I know it is important to love him with all my heart and all my understanding and all my strength, and to love my neighbor as myself. This is more important than to offer all of the burnt offerings and sacrifices required in the law.”

“ If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.

The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.

And don’t address anyone here on earth as‘ Father,’ for only God in heaven is your Father.

“ And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul.

O my son, give me your heart. May your eyes take delight in following my ways.
