The Lord sent all His servants the prophets to you time and time again, but you have not obeyed or even paid attention.He announced,‘ Turn, each of you, from your evil way of life and from your evil deeds. Live in the land the Lord gave to you and your ancestors long ago and forever.

So I sent you all My servants the prophets time and time again, saying: Don’t do this detestable thing that I hate.

Aren’t these the words that the Lord proclaimed through the earlier prophets when Jerusalem was inhabited and secure, along with its surrounding cities, and when the southern region and the Judean foothills were inhabited?”

How sad for me! For I am like one who— when the summer fruit has been gathered after the gleaning of the grape harvest— finds no grape cluster to eat, no early fig, which I crave.
