As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them,being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ been raised.If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith also is in vain.Yes, we are also found false witnesses of God, because we testified about God that he raised up Christ, whom he didn’t raise up, if it is so that the dead are not raised.For if the dead aren’t raised, neither has Christ been raised.If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.Then they also who are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.

But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council,“ Men and brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. Concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”When he had said this, an argument arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the crowd was divided.For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess all of these.A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and contended, saying,“ We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or angel has spoken to him, let’s not fight against God!”

For the seven had her as a wife.”Jesus said to them,“ The children of this age marry, and are given in marriage.But those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.For they can’t die any more, for they are like the angels, and are children of God, being children of the resurrection.But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he called the Lord‘ The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’Now he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all are alive to him.”Some of the scribes answered,“ Teacher, you speak well.”They didn’t dare to ask him any more questions.
