They talked it over among themselves.“ If we say it was from heaven, he will ask why we didn’t believe John.

次日，約翰看見耶穌走過來，就說：「看啊！上帝的羔羊，除去世人罪惡的！

約翰為祂做見證的時候，高聲喊道：「這就是我以前所說的那位，『祂在我以後來卻比我位分高，因為祂在我之前已經存在了。』」

他看見耶穌經過，就說：「看啊！這是上帝的羔羊！」

娶新娘的是新郎，站在旁邊的朋友聽見新郎的聲音，就會歡喜快樂。因此，我現在也心滿意足了。祂必興旺，我必衰微。「從天上來的，超越一切；從地上來的，屬於地，他所談論的也不外乎地上的事。那來自天上、超越萬物的，要把所見所聞講給人聽，只是沒有人接受祂的見證。但已經接受祂見證的人證實了上帝是真實的。上帝所差來的，說的是上帝的話，因為上帝將聖靈無限量地賜給祂。父愛子，已把萬物交在祂手裡。信子的人有永生；不信子的人得不到永生，上帝的烈怒常在他身上。」

他們離開後，耶穌對眾人談起約翰，說：「你們從前去曠野要看什麼呢？看隨風搖動的蘆葦嗎？如果不是，你們到底想看什麼？是看穿綾羅綢緞的人嗎？那些穿綾羅綢緞的人生活在王宮裡。你們究竟想看什麼？看先知嗎？是的，我告訴你們，他不只是先知。聖經上說，『看啊，我要差遣我的使者在你前面為你預備道路』，這裡所指的就是約翰。我實在告訴你們，凡婦人所生的，沒有一個興起來比施洗者約翰大，然而天國裡最微不足道的也比他大。「從施洗者約翰到現在，天國一直在強勁地擴展著，強勁的人要抓住它。因為到約翰為止，所有的先知和律法都在預言天國的事。如果你們願意接受，約翰就是那要來的以利亞。

約翰的洗禮是從哪裡來的？從天上來的，還是從人來的？」他們便彼此議論說：「如果我們說『是從天上來的』，祂一定會問我們，『那你們為什麼不信他？』但如果我們說『是從人來的』，又怕觸怒百姓，因為他們相信約翰是個先知。」於是，他們回答耶穌說：「我們不知道。」耶穌說：「我也不告訴你們我憑什麼權柄做這些事。」

「你們認為這兩個兒子，到底哪一個服從父親呢？」他們回答道：「大兒子。」耶穌說：「我實在告訴你們，稅吏和娼妓要比你們先進上帝的國。因為約翰來指示你們當行的正路，你們不信他，但稅吏和娼妓信了。你們親眼看見了這些事，竟然還是執迷不悟，不肯信他。

我看見了，便做見證，祂就是上帝的兒子。」
