次日，约翰看见耶稣走过来，就说：“看啊！上帝的羔羊，除去世人罪恶的！

约翰为祂做见证的时候，高声喊道：“这就是我以前所说的那位，‘祂在我以后来却比我位分高，因为祂在我之前已经存在了。’”

他看见耶稣经过，就说：“看啊！这是上帝的羔羊！”

娶新娘的是新郎，站在旁边的朋友听见新郎的声音，就会欢喜快乐。因此，我现在也心满意足了。祂必兴旺，我必衰微。“从天上来的，超越一切；从地上来的，属于地，他所谈论的也不外乎地上的事。那来自天上、超越万物的，要把所见所闻讲给人听，只是没有人接受祂的见证。但已经接受祂见证的人证实了上帝是真实的。上帝所差来的，说的是上帝的话，因为上帝将圣灵无限量地赐给祂。父爱子，已把万物交在祂手里。信子的人有永生；不信子的人得不到永生，上帝的烈怒常在他身上。”

他们离开后，耶稣对众人谈起约翰，说：“你们从前去旷野要看什么呢？看随风摇动的芦苇吗？如果不是，你们到底想看什么？是看穿绫罗绸缎的人吗？那些穿绫罗绸缎的人生活在王宫里。你们究竟想看什么？看先知吗？是的，我告诉你们，他不只是先知。圣经上说，‘看啊，我要差遣我的使者在你前面为你预备道路’，这里所指的就是约翰。我实在告诉你们，凡妇人所生的，没有一个兴起来比施洗者约翰大，然而天国里最微不足道的也比他大。“从施洗者约翰到现在，天国一直在强劲地扩展着，强劲的人要抓住它。因为到约翰为止，所有的先知和律法都在预言天国的事。如果你们愿意接受，约翰就是那要来的以利亚。

约翰的洗礼是从哪里来的？从天上来的，还是从人来的？”他们便彼此议论说：“如果我们说‘是从天上来的’，祂一定会问我们，‘那你们为什么不信他？’但如果我们说‘是从人来的’，又怕触怒百姓，因为他们相信约翰是个先知。”于是，他们回答耶稣说：“我们不知道。”耶稣说：“我也不告诉你们我凭什么权柄做这些事。”

“你们认为这两个儿子，到底哪一个服从父亲呢？”他们回答道：“大儿子。”耶稣说：“我实在告诉你们，税吏和娼妓要比你们先进上帝的国。因为约翰来指示你们当行的正路，你们不信他，但税吏和娼妓信了。你们亲眼看见了这些事，竟然还是执迷不悟，不肯信他。

我看见了，便做见证，祂就是上帝的儿子。”
