耶穌進耶路撒冷時，全城轟動，說：「這是誰？」眾人說：「祂是先知耶穌，來自加利利的拿撒勒。」耶穌進入聖殿，趕走裡面做買賣的人，又推翻兌換錢幣之人的桌子和賣鴿子之人的凳子。耶穌斥責他們說：「聖經上說，『我的殿必稱為禱告的殿。』你們竟把它變成了賊窩。」殿中的瞎子和瘸子都來到耶穌面前，祂便醫好了他們。祭司長和律法教師看見祂所行的奇事，又聽見小孩子在聖殿裡高聲喊著：「和散那歸於大衛的後裔！」便十分惱怒。他們責問耶穌說：「你聽見這些人說的了嗎？」耶穌說：「我聽見了。聖經上說，『你使孩童和嬰兒口中發出頌讚』，你們沒有讀過嗎？」然後，祂便離開他們，到城外伯大尼住宿。

那時，我必提著燈巡查耶路撒冷，懲罰那些安於罪中的人。他們心想，『耶和華不賜福也不降禍。』

耶穌快到耶路撒冷時，看見那城就哀哭，說：「今天你若知道那能帶給你平安的事就好了！可惜這事現在是隱藏的，你看不見！因為有一天敵人要在你周圍築起壁壘把你團團圍住，四面攻擊你。他們要把你夷為平地，毀滅你城牆裡的兒女，不會留下兩塊疊在一起的石頭，因為你沒有認識到上帝眷顧你的時刻。」耶穌進入聖殿趕走裡面做買賣的人，

萬軍之耶和華說：「我要差遣我的使者為我開路。你們所尋求的主必突然來到祂的殿中。你們所期盼的那位立約的使者快要來了！」
