人多斥之、令勿喧。而彼更抗喉疾呼曰：『大維子、祈垂憐焉。』

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many people commanded him to stop. They told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder,“ Son of David! Have mercy on me!”

“ Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Many warned him to keep quiet, but he was crying out all the more,“ Have mercy on me, Son of David!”

Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And many rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

Then little children were brought to him for him to lay his hands on them and pray. But the disciples scolded those who brought them.

The crowd scolded them to get them to be quiet. But they shouted even more loudly,“ Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!”

While he was still speaking, people came from the synagogue ruler’s house saying,“ Your daughter has died. Why trouble the teacher any longer?”

The woman was a Greek, of Syrophoenician origin. She asked him to cast the demon out of her daughter.He said to her,“ Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and to throw it to the dogs.”She answered,“ Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”Then he said to her,“ Because you said this, you may go. The demon has left your daughter.”

Then he said to them,“ Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say to him,‘ Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,because a friend of mine has stopped here while on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.’Then he will reply from inside,‘ Do not bother me. The door is already shut, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything.’I tell you, even though the man inside will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of the first man’s sheer persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs.“ So I tell you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

During his earthly life Christ offered both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his devotion.

But he did not answer her a word. Then his disciples came and begged him,“ Send her away, because she keeps on crying out after us.”So he answered,“ I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”But she came and bowed down before him and said,“ Lord, help me!”“ It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs,” he said.“ Yes, Lord,” she replied,“ but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”Then Jesus answered her,“ Woman, your faith is great! Let what you want be done for you.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart.He said,“ In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected people.There was also a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying,‘ Give me justice against my adversary.’For a while he refused, but later on he said to himself,‘ Though I neither fear God nor have regard for people,yet because this widow keeps on bothering me, I will give her justice, or in the end she will wear me out by her unending pleas.’”And the Lord said,“ Listen to what the unrighteous judge says!Won’t God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay long to help them?I tell you, he will give them justice speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and requests for all the saints.

and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love. For you repay men for what they do.

When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul,

And those who were in front scolded him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted even more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

So Jacob was left alone. Then a man wrestled with him until daybreak.When the man saw that he could not defeat Jacob, he struck the socket of his hip so the socket of Jacob’s hip was dislocated while he wrestled with him.Then the man said,“ Let me go, for the dawn is breaking.”“ I will not let you go,” Jacob replied,“ unless you bless me.”The man asked him,“ What is your name?” He answered,“ Jacob.”“ No longer will your name be Jacob,” the man told him,“ but Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have prevailed.”
