Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

James and John came to Jesus. They were the sons of Zebedee.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we would like to ask you for a favor.”

And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him,“ Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.”

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came over and spoke to him.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we want you to do us a favor.”

James and John, the two sons of Zebedee,* came up to Jesus, saying to Him,“ Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.”

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying,“ Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.”

And there come near unto him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying unto him, Teacher, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said,“ Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons approached Him with her sons. She knelt down to ask Him for something.“ What do you want?” He asked her.“ Promise,” she said to Him,“ that these two sons of mine may sit, one on Your right and the other on Your left, in Your kingdom.”But Jesus answered,“ You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?”“ We are able,” they said to Him.He told them,“ You will indeed drink My cup. But to sit at My right and left is not Mine to give; instead, it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.”When the 10 disciples heard this, they became indignant with the two brothers.But Jesus called them over and said,“ You know that the rulers of the Gentiles dominate them, and the men of high position exercise power over them.It must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave;just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life— a ransom for many.”

Then she said,“ I have just one small request of you. Don’t turn me down.”“ Go ahead and ask, mother,” the king replied,“ for I won’t turn you down.”

So now I have just one request of you; don’t turn me down.” She said to him,“ Go on.”

Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in their boat mending their nets.Immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed Him.

He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be deeply distressed and horrified.

He did not let anyone accompany Him except Peter, James, and John, James’s brother.

When the woman from Tekoa came to the king, she fell with her face to the ground in homage and said,“ Help me, my king!”“ What’s the matter?” the king asked her.“ To tell the truth, I am a widow; my husband died,” she said.“ Your servant had two sons. They were fighting in the field with no one to separate them, and one struck the other and killed him.Now the whole clan has risen up against your servant and said,‘ Hand over the one who killed his brother so we may put him to death for the life of the brother he murdered. We will destroy the heir!’ They would extinguish my one remaining ember by not preserving my husband’s name or posterity on earth.”The king told the woman,“ Go home. I will issue a command on your behalf.”Then the woman of Tekoa said to the king,“ My lord the king, may any blame be on me and my father’s house, and may the king and his throne be innocent.”“ Whoever speaks to you,” the king said,“ bring him to me. He will not trouble you again!”She replied,“ Please, may the king invoke the Lord your God, so that the avenger of blood will not increase the loss, and they will not eliminate my son!”“ As the Lord lives,” he vowed,“ not a hair of your son will fall to the ground.”

After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John and led them up on a high mountain by themselves to be alone. He was transformed in front of them,
