Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

James and John came to Jesus. They were the sons of Zebedee.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we would like to ask you for a favor.”

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came over and spoke to him.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we want you to do us a favor.”

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached him and said,“ Teacher, we want you to do whatever we ask you.”

James and John, the two sons of Zebedee,* came up to Jesus, saying to Him,“ Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.”

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Him, saying,“ Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask.”

And there come near unto him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying unto him, Teacher, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached Him and said,“ Teacher, we want You to do something for us if we ask You.”

And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said,“ Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying,“ Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask.”

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something.And he said to her,“ What do you want?” She said to him,“ Say that these two sons of mine are to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.”Jesus answered,“ You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am to drink?” They said to him,“ We are able.”He said to them,“ You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers.But Jesus called them to him and said,“ You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,and whoever would be first among you must be your slave,even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Then she said,“ I have one small request to make of you; do not refuse me.” And the king said to her,“ Make your request, my mother, for I will not refuse you.”

And now I have one request to make of you; do not refuse me.” She said to him,“ Speak.”

And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets.And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him.

And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled.

And he allowed no one to follow him except Peter and James and John the brother of James.

When the woman of Tekoa came to the king, she fell on her face to the ground and paid homage and said,“ Save me, O king.”And the king said to her,“ What is your trouble?” She answered,“ Alas, I am a widow; my husband is dead.And your servant had two sons, and they quarreled with one another in the field. There was no one to separate them, and one struck the other and killed him.And now the whole clan has risen against your servant, and they say,‘ Give up the man who struck his brother, that we may put him to death for the life of his brother whom he killed.’ And so they would destroy the heir also. Thus they would quench my coal that is left and leave to my husband neither name nor remnant on the face of the earth.”Then the king said to the woman,“ Go to your house, and I will give orders concerning you.”And the woman of Tekoa said to the king,“ On me be the guilt, my lord the king, and on my father’s house; let the king and his throne be guiltless.”The king said,“ If anyone says anything to you, bring him to me, and he shall never touch you again.”Then she said,“ Please let the king invoke the Lord your God, that the avenger of blood kill no more, and my son be not destroyed.” He said,“ As the Lord lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the ground.”

And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them,
