While going up to Jerusalem, Jesus took the 12 disciples aside privately and said to them on the way:“ Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death.Then they will hand Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked, flogged, and crucified, and He will be resurrected on the third day.”

When the days were coming to a close for Him to be taken up, He determined to journey to Jerusalem.

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to infants.

And He did not speak to them without a parable. Privately, however, He would explain everything to His own disciples.

“ Rabbi,” the disciples told Him,“ just now the Jews tried to stone You, and You’re going there again?”

Then turning to His disciples He said privately,“ The eyes that see the things you see are blessed!

Then Thomas( called“ Twin”) said to his fellow disciples,“ Let’s go so that we may die with Him.”

Then He took the Twelve aside and told them,“ Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem. Everything that is written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished.For He will be handed over to the Gentiles, and He will be mocked, insulted, spit on;and after they flog Him, they will kill Him, and He will rise on the third day.”They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.

He answered them,“ Because the secrets of the kingdom of heaven have been given for you to know, but it has not been given to them.

“ Listen, Joshua the high priest, you and your colleagues sitting before you; indeed, these men are a sign that I am about to bring My servant, the Branch.
