Then come, follow me.”After he heard this, he became extremely sad, because he was very rich.Seeing that he became sad, Jesus said,“ How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”Those who heard this asked,“ Then who can be saved?”He replied,“ What is impossible with man is possible with God.”Then Peter said,“ Look, we have left what we had and followed you.”So he said to them,“ Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left a house, wife or brothers or sisters, parents or children because of the kingdom of God,who will not receive many times more at this time, and eternal life in the age to come.”

Just then someone came up and asked him,“ Teacher, what good must I do to have eternal life?”“ Why do you ask me about what is good?” he said to him.“ There is only one who is good. If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”“ Which ones?” he asked him. Jesus answered: Do not murder; do not commit adultery; do not steal; do not bear false witness;honor your father and your mother; and love your neighbor as yourself.“ I have kept all these,” the young man told him.“ What do I still lack?”“ If you want to be perfect,” Jesus said to him,“ go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”When the young man heard that, he went away grieving, because he had many possessions.Jesus said to his disciples,“ Truly I tell you, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”When the disciples heard this, they were utterly astonished and asked,“ Then who can be saved?”Jesus looked at them and said,“ With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”Then Peter responded to him,“ See, we have left everything and followed you. So what will there be for us?”Jesus said to them,“ Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields because of my name will receive a hundred times more and will inherit eternal life.But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

This man came to him at night and said,“ Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one could perform these signs you do unless God were with him.”

So, departing quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell his disciples the news.

Don’t work for the food that perishes but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set his seal of approval on him.”“ What can we do to perform the works of God?” they asked.

When Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly gathering, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it,“ You mute and deaf spirit, I command you: Come out of him and never enter him again.”

For this is the will of my Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him will have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

“ And now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.

I can testify about them that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.Since they are ignorant of the righteousness of God and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted to God’s righteousness.For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes,

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

And this is the promise that he himself made to us: eternal life.
