The Lord Yahweh’s Spirit is on me, because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound,to proclaim the year of Yahweh’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,to provide for those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, that he may be glorified.

Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Good News of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.

added this also to them all, that he shut up John in prison.

and said to his servants,“ This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”

Soon afterwards, he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of God’s Kingdom. With him were the twelve,

But he said to them,“ I must preach the good news of God’s Kingdom to the other cities also. For this reason I have been sent.”He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

The book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the book, and found the place where it was written,“ The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed,and to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Now when John heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples

“ Now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I went about preaching God’s Kingdom, will see my face no more.

After these things, Jesus came with his disciples into the land of Judea. He stayed there with them and baptized.John also was baptizing in Enon near Salim, because there was much water there. They came, and were baptized;for John was not yet thrown into prison.

When they had appointed him a day, many people came to him at his lodging. He explained to them, testifying about God’s Kingdom, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning until evening.
