因為我們這位大祭司並非不能體恤我們的軟弱，祂與我們一樣曾經面對各樣的試探，卻從來沒有犯罪。

摩西在耶和華那裡待了四十晝夜，沒吃也沒喝。耶和華把約的內容，就是十條誡命，寫在石版上。

難道你不知道，我可以請求我父馬上派十二營以上的天使來保護我嗎？

所以祂必須在每一方面都與祂的弟兄姊妹相同，以便在事奉上帝的事上成為一位仁慈忠信的大祭司，替眾人獻上贖罪祭。祂經歷過受試煉的痛苦，所以能幫助受試煉的人。

耶穌說：「撒旦，走開！聖經上說，『要敬拜主——你的上帝，單單事奉祂。』」於是魔鬼離開了耶穌，這時有天使前來伺候祂。

他躺在樹下睡著了。有一位天使拍醒他，說：「起來吃東西吧。」他睜開眼睛，見頭邊有用炭火烤好的餅和一瓶水。他吃喝完畢，又躺下來。耶和華的天使第二次來拍醒他，說：「起來吃東西吧，你還要走很遠的路。」以利亞起來吃喝，就有了力氣，走了四十晝夜，來到上帝的山——何烈山。

摩西上到山上，走進雲中，在那裡停留了四十晝夜。

毫無疑問，我們偉大的信仰奧妙無比：祂以肉身顯現，被聖靈證明為義，被天使看見，被傳揚到列邦，被世人信奉，被接到天上的榮耀中。

「我又俯伏在耶和華面前，四十晝夜不吃不喝，因為你們犯了大罪，做耶和華憎惡的事，惹祂發怒。

「因為耶和華說要毀滅你們，我就俯伏在耶和華面前四十晝夜，
