Then the disciples worshiped him.“ You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets.And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.

And a voice from heaven said,“ This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.

During that time the devil came and said to him,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”

This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News.God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures.The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line,and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.

But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said,“ This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?

In my first book I told you, Theophilus, about everything Jesus began to do and teachuntil the day he was taken up to heaven after giving his chosen apostles further instructions through the Holy Spirit.

I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.”

Then Nathanael exclaimed,“ Rabbi, you are the Son of God— the King of Israel!”

We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.”

They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples.Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus,

We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

The king proclaims the Lord’s decree:“ The Lord said to me,‘ You are my son. Today I have become your Father.

“ For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

but the angel reassured them.“ Don’t be afraid!” he said.“ I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.The Savior— yes, the Messiah, the Lord— has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!

The angel replied,“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.
