But I will look to the Lord. I’ll put my trust in God my Savior. He will hear me.

The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.

In return for my friendship they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer.

“ I look for your deliverance, Lord.

“ Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.”

Lord, I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God.

You who answer prayer, to you all people will come.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.

I will wait for the Lord, who is hiding his face from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my trust in him.

How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false godsKnow that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.

Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were furious and began to discuss with one another what they might do to Jesus.One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:“ Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace.For my eyes have seen your salvation,which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”

Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
