The faithful have been swept from the land; not one upright person remains. Everyone lies in wait to shed blood; they hunt each other with nets.

Faithful people have disappeared from the land. Those who are honest are gone. Everyone hides and waits to spill the blood of others. They use nets to try and trap one another.

The godly has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among mankind; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts the other with a net.

The godly people have all disappeared; not one honest person is left on the earth. They are all murderers, setting traps even for their own brothers.

The godly perish, but no one cares. Honest people disappear, when no one minds that the godly disappear because of evil.

“ Indeed, there are wicked scoundrels among my people. They lie in wait like bird catchers hiding in ambush. They set deadly traps to catch people.

They are eager to do evil, quick to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are sinful; they crush and destroy.

If they say,“ Come with us! We will lie in wait to shed blood; we will ambush an innocent person capriciously.

Fools say to themselves,“ There is no God.” They sin and commit evil deeds; none of them does what is right.The LORD looks down from heaven at the human race, to see if there is anyone who is wise and seeks God.Everyone rejects God; they are all morally corrupt. None of them does what is right, not even one!

They have prepared a net to trap me; I am discouraged. They have dug a pit for me. They will fall into it!( Selah)

All of its soldiers are strong and mighty. Their arrows will send you to your grave.

The Babylonian tyrant pulls them all up with a fishhook; he hauls them in with his throw net. When he catches them in his dragnet, he is very happy.Because of his success he offers sacrifices to his throw net and burns incense to his dragnet; for because of them he has plenty of food, and more than enough to eat.Will he then continue to fill and empty his throw net? Will he always destroy nations and spare none?

You build Zion through bloody crimes, Jerusalem through unjust violence.

just as it is written:“ There is no one righteous, not even one,there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God.All have turned away, together they have become worthless; there is no one who shows kindness, not even one.”“ Their throats are open graves, they deceive with their tongues, the poison of asps is under their lips.”“ Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”“ Their feet are swift to shed blood,ruin and misery are in their paths,and the way of peace they have not known.”“ There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Look, my father, and see the edge of your robe in my hand! When I cut off the edge of your robe, I didn’t kill you. So realize and understand that I am not planning evil or rebellion. Even though I have not sinned against you, you are waiting in ambush to take my life.

Now don’t let my blood fall to the ground away from the LORD’s presence, for the king of Israel has gone out to look for a flea the way one looks for a partridge in the hill country.”

The words of the wicked lie in wait to shed innocent blood, but the words of the upright will deliver them.

But for now I, the LORD, say:“ I will send many enemies who will catch these people like fishermen. After that I will send others who will hunt them out like hunters from all the mountains, all the hills, and the crevices in the rocks.

Our enemies hunted us down at every step so that we could not walk about in our streets. Our end drew near, our days were numbered, for our end had come!ק( Qof)
