Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams? Will he take delight in 10,000 rivers of olive oil? Should we offer our oldest sons for the wrong things we’ve done? Should we sacrifice our own children to pay for our sins?”

從以色列列王所作、昔異邦之民、行可惡之事、焚獻其子、耶和華當以色列族前逐之、今亞哈士乃效其尤、

爾宅有牛、爾牢有羊、我不取之兮、

撒母耳曰、耶和華豈以燔祭禮物為喜、不以聽從其命為喜乎。夫聽命較獻祭尤善、遵言較羊脂愈美。

在便欣嫩谷、築陀法崇丘、焚獻子女、干我所禁、我深痛疾。

焚獻其子、用卜筮、術數、憑卜神、問巫覡、於耶和華前多行不義、干厥震怒。

在便欣嫩谷之陀法、約西亞污之、免人在彼焚獻子女、以奉摩洛。

燔祭禮物、爾所不欲、欲則予必獻之兮、

民欲獻祭、即以利巴嫩林為柴、以百獸為燔、亦不足數。

我欲矜恤、不欲祭祀、寧崇我道、毋獻燔祭、

遂取將繼位之長子、獻為燔祭於邑垣。以色列族見此、無不憤怒、離摩押王、而反故土。

勿焚爾子女、以享摩洛、瀆爾上帝之名、為我耶和華所禁。

雖獻燔祭禮物、我不悅納、雖供肥犢為酬恩之祭、我不眷顧、

以色列族之上帝、萬有之主、耶和華曰、燔祭之肉、爾可食之、與禮物無異。昔我導爾祖出埃及、我諭以命、不第為燔祭禮物也、

此人我倚為心膂、今遣至爾、望爾晉接焉、

彼事巴力、築崇丘以奉之、焚子女以獻之、我所嚴禁、我所痛疾。

耶和華曰、恆獻禮物、與我何與、爾燔牡綿羊、焚肥畜之膋、我所厭惡、牛犢羔羊、牡山羊之血、我不悅懌。爾來覲我、穢我帷場、誰命之者。毋徒獻禮物、若馨香、月朔、安息日、聖會大日、俱我所厭棄、爾守節期、又復為惡、故我不悅。朔日節期、我心痛疾、我視若重負而厭之。爾曹殺人、雖舉手禱告弗輟、我必不俯聞、而遐棄爾。

我賜爾生子女、爾以子女獻而焚之、爾狥欲若此、豈為細故。爾殺我子女、焚之以火、以敬偶像。

乳之多可濯足、油之盈若澗泉、

則當我凱旋之時、凡出我門以迓者、我必以彼燔而獻於耶和華。

其在鄉黨、匿跡歧途兮、陰害煢獨、私殺無辜兮。彼若獅兮、穴視而耽耽、執貧民兮、羅網之是張、攘奪之是行兮、遭糜爛、被陷害、弱制於強兮、惡者謂上帝不及知兮、蒙蔽厥面、永不鑒斯兮、願耶和華勃然而興兮、施厥巨能、毋忘貧民兮。毋使惡人凌侮、謂上帝不加研究兮、

既盈二月、女乃旋歸、父循其所許之願、使不字而終、嗣後以色列族女子、每年必為基列人耶弗大女哀哭四日、遵為常例。
