My people, remember what Balak king of Moab plotted and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

Remember how Balak, the king of Moab, planned to put a curse on your people. But Balaam, the son of Beor, gave them a blessing instead. Remember their journey from Shittim to Gilgal. I want you to know that I always do what is right.”

O my people, remember what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

Don’t you remember, my people, how King Balak of Moab tried to have you cursed and how Balaam son of Beor blessed you instead? And remember your journey from Acacia Grove to Gilgal, when I, the Lord, did everything I could to teach you about my faithfulness.”

My people, remember what King Balak of Moab proposed, what Balaam son of Beor answered him, and what happened from the Acacia Grove to Gilgal so that you may acknowledge the LORD’s righteous acts.

O My people, remember now What Balak king of Moab counseled, And what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, From Acacia Grove to Gilgal, That you may know the righteousness of the Lord.”

My people, remember what Balak king of Moab proposed, what Balaam son of Beor answered him, and what happened from the Acacia Grove to Gilgal so that you may acknowledge the Lord’s righteous acts.

My people, recall how King Balak of Moab planned to harm you, how Balaam son of Beor responded to him. Recall how you journeyed from Shittim to Gilgal, so you might acknowledge that the LORD has treated you fairly.”

My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of Yahweh.”

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.

And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.

[ They that are delivered] from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD,[ even] the righteous acts[ toward the inhabitants] of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.

And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth[ day] of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.

Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain;[ namely], Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me,[ bless] his holy name.Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith,[ even] the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of thy life.

And they pitched by Jordan, from Bethjesimoth[ even] unto Abelshittim in the plains of Moab.

Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam[ the son] of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.

My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness[ and] thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers[ thereof].I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness,[ even] of thine only.

Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.

Whom God hath set forth[ to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;To declare,[ I say], at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD[ is] gracious and full of compassion.

And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan[ by] Jericho.And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they[ were] many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all[ that are] round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor[ was] king of the Moabites at that time.He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which[ is] by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they[ are] too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail,[ that] we may smite them, and[ that] I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest[ is] blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men[ are] these with thee?And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me,[ saying],Behold,[ there is] a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they[ are] blessed.And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they.And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up,[ and] go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants[ were] with him.And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall[ being] on this side, and a wall on that side.And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again.

Wherefore remember, that ye[ being] in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for[ it is] he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as[ it is] this day.

Remember,[ and] forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.

But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.

Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.

Thy righteousness also, O God,[ is] very high, who hast done great things: O God, who[ is] like unto thee!

Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.

And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee,[ and] to prove thee, to know what[ was] in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on[ every] altar.

And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost[ part] of the people.
