I will strike you brutally and destroy you because of your sin.

Therefore also will I make[ thee] sick in smiting thee, in making[ thee] desolate because of thy sins.

Therefore I also have struck you with a grievous wound. I have made you desolate because of your sins.

Why do you insist on being battered? Why do you continue to rebel? Your head has a massive wound, your whole body is weak.From the soles of your feet to your head, there is no spot that is unharmed. There are only bruises, cuts, and open wounds. They have not been cleansed or bandaged, nor have they been treated with olive oil.Your land is devastated, your cities burned with fire. Right before your eyes your crops are being destroyed by foreign invaders. They leave behind devastation and destruction.

I for my part will do this to you: I will inflict horror on you, consumption and fever, which diminish eyesight and drain away the vitality of life. You will sow your seed in vain because your enemies will eat it.

Or a person is chastened by pain on his bed, and with the continual strife of his bones,so that his life loathes food, and his soul rejects appetizing fare.His flesh wastes away from sight, and his bones, which were not seen, are easily visible.He draws near to the place of corruption, and his life to the messengers of death.
