Am I still to forget your ill- gotten treasures, you wicked house, and the short ephah, which is accursed?

You sinful people, should I forget that you got your treasures by stealing them? You use dishonest measures to cheat others. I have placed a curse on that practice.

Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is accursed?

What shall I say about the homes of the wicked filled with treasures gained by cheating? What about the disgusting practice of measuring out grain with dishonest measures?

Is there still a person in the wicked house, Along with treasures of wickedness, And a short measure that is cursed?

Are there yet the treasures of wickedness In the house of the wicked, And the short measure that is an abomination?

Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and a scant measure that is abominable?

“ I will not overlook, O sinful house, the dishonest gain you have hoarded away, or the smaller-than-standard measure I hate so much.

The people are incapable of doing right— this is the LORD’s declaration— those who store up violence and destruction in their citadels.

asking,“ When will the New Moon be over so we may sell grain, and the Sabbath, so we may market wheat? We can reduce the measure while increasing the price and cheat with dishonest scales.We can buy the poor with silver and the needy for a pair of sandals and even sell the chaff!”

for wicked men live among my people. They watch like hunters lying in wait. They set a trap; they catch men.Like a cage full of birds, so their houses are full of deceit. Therefore they have grown powerful and rich.

Differing weights and varying measures— both are detestable to the LORD.

Dishonest scales are detestable to the LORD, but an accurate weight is his delight.

“ Do not be unfair in measurements of length, weight, or volume.You are to have honest balances, honest weights, an honest dry measure, and an honest liquid measure; I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

Making a fortune through a lying tongue is a vanishing mist, a pursuit of death.

“ Do not have differing weights in your bag, one heavy and one light.Do not have differing dry measures in your house, a larger and a smaller.You must have a full and honest weight, a full and honest dry measure, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.For everyone who does such things and acts unfairly is detestable to the LORD your God.

But Naaman insisted,“ Please, accept one hundred fifty pounds.” He urged Gehazi and then packed one hundred fifty pounds of silver in two bags with two sets of clothing. Naaman gave them to two of his attendants who carried them ahead of Gehazi.When Gehazi came to the hill, he took the gifts from them and deposited them in the house. Moreover, wine betrays; an arrogant man is never at rest. He enlarges his appetite like Sheol, and like Death he is never satisfied. He gathers all the nations to himself; he collects all the peoples for himself.Won’t all of these take up a taunt against him, with mockery and riddles about him? They will say,“ Woe to him who amasses what is not his— how much longer?— and loads himself with goods taken in pledge.”Won’t your creditors suddenly arise, and those who disturb you wake up? Then you will become spoil for them.Since you have plundered many nations, all the peoples who remain will plunder you— because of human bloodshed and violence against lands, cities, and all who live in them.Woe to him who dishonestly makes wealth for his house to place his nest on high, to escape the grasp of disaster!You have planned shame for your house by wiping out many peoples and sinning against your own self.For the stones will cry out from the wall, and the rafters will answer them from the woodwork.

On that day I will punish all who skip over the threshold, who fill their master’s house with violence and deceit.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going out over the whole land, for everyone who is a thief, contrary to what is written on one side, has gone unpunished, and everyone who swears falsely, contrary to what is written on the other side, has gone unpunished.I will send it out,”— this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies—“ and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by my name. Differing weights are detestable to the LORD, and dishonest scales are unfair.

A merchant loves to extort with dishonest scales in his hands.But Ephraim thinks,“ How rich I have become; I made it all myself. In all my earnings, no one can find any iniquity in me that I can be punished for!”

Come now, you rich people, weep and wail over the miseries that are coming on you.Your wealth has rotted and your clothes are moth-eaten.Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have stored up treasure in the last days.Look! The pay that you withheld from the workers who mowed your fields cries out, and the outcry of the harvesters has reached the ears of the Lord of Armies.

Ill-gotten gains do not profit anyone, but righteousness rescues from death.

The Israelites, however, were unfaithful regarding the things set apart for destruction. Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of what was set apart, and the LORD’s anger burned against the Israelites.
