這些人必用刀劍「牧養」亞述地，必用拔出的刀「看顧」寧錄地；因為當那亞述人進入我們的國土，踐踏我們的境界時，這些人必搶救我們脫離那亞述人。

who will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrians when they invade our land and march across our borders.

They will use their swords to rule over Assyria. They’ll rule the land of Nimrod with swords that are ready to strike. The Assyrians will march across our borders and attack our land. But the promised ruler will save us from them.

they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances; and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian when he comes into our land and treads within our border.

古實又生寧錄，寧錄是地上最先為英雄的。他靠着永恆主的恩是個英勇的獵人；所以俗語說：『像寧錄靠着永恆主的恩做個英勇的獵人。』他開國的主要成分是巴別、以力、亞甲，都在示拿地。他從那地出來，往亞述去，建造尼尼微與其城郊、和迦拉、

當以色列王比加在位的日子、亞述王提革拉毘列色來奪取以雲、亞伯伯瑪迦、亞挪、基低斯、夏瑣、基列、加利利、和拿弗他利全地；使這些地方的居民都流亡到亞述去。

『因此永恆主論亞述王是這樣說的：「他必不會來到這城、也不會射箭到這裏；不會拿盾牌臨到城前，也不會倒土堆攻城。他從哪條路來，也必從哪條路回去：這城他不能進：這是永恆主發神諭說的。為了我自己的緣故、又為了我僕人大衛的緣故、我必圍護這城來拯救它。』就在那一天夜裏、永恆主的使者就出來，在亞述營中擊殺了十八萬五千人；第二天早晨、人清早起來，哎呀，都是死屍。

希西家王四年、就是以色列王以拉的兒子何細亞七年、亞述王撒縵以色上來攻擊撒瑪利亞，圍困它。過了三年、就攻取了它。希西家六年、以色列王何細亞九年、撒瑪利亞被攻取了。亞述王使以色列人流亡到亞述，把他們安置在哈臘和歌散的哈博河邊、跟瑪代人的城市；因為他們不聽永恆主他們的上帝的聲音，反而越犯了他的約；凡永恆主的僕人摩西所吩咐的、他們都不聽、不遵行。希西家王十四年、亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大的一切堡壘城，將城奪取。猶大王希西家差遣人到拉吉去見亞述王說：『我有罪了；求你離開我而回去；凡你所加於我的處罰、我都要承當。』於是亞述王勒令猶大王希西家要納銀子三百擔，金子三十擔。希西家就把永恆主殿裏和王宮府庫裏所有的銀子都交出。

獅子的洞在哪裏？少壯獅子的穴在何處？公獅母獅漫遊之地、少獅子之所在、無人驚嚇之處、都在何方呢？公獅為小獅子抓撕了足夠肉食，為母獅掐死活物；把抓撕的充滿其洞穴，把撕裂的塞滿其穴窟。萬軍之永恆主發神諭說：看哪，我與你為敵；我必將你的車輛焚燒成煙，刀劍也必吞滅你的少壯獅子；我必從地上除滅你所抓撕的，你使者的聲音必無可再聽見。有禍啊！這流人血的城！盡是謊詐，充滿着劫掠；搶奪的事總離不了。啊，鞭子的噼啪聲！啊，車輪之轟轟響！駿馬踢跳飛跑！戰車顛簸跳動！軍馬騰躍着衝鋒；刀劍閃閃發光，槍矛爍爍發亮；被刺殺的眾多，屍首堆疊慘重；屍身任數不盡，人都跌在屍首堆上！

以拯救我們脫離仇敵、和一切恨惡我們的人的手；

外族之民必將他們帶回本地來；以色列家必在永恆主的土地上擁有外族人為僕婢；也必擄掠先前擄掠他們的，管轄先前壓迫他們的。

亞述王撒縵以色上來攻擊何細亞，何細亞就臣服他，給他進貢。何細亞反叛了，差遣使者去見埃及王西威、卻不照年年所行的、給亞述王獻上貢物；亞述王發覺了，就捉拿他，鎖禁在監獄裏。亞述王上來，走遍以色列地，上到撒瑪利亞，把它圍困了三年。

有禍啊！你這毁滅人者、而自己倒不被毁滅的！你這行詭詐者、而人倒不以詭詐待你的！你剛停止了毁滅人，你自己就要被毁滅了；你剛行完了詭詐，人就以詭詐待你了。

因此永恆主使亞述王的將軍來攻擊他們，用鐃鈎鈎住瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖着他，將他帶到巴比倫去。

要使我們既得救援脫離了仇敵的手，

有禍呀，亞述，我怒氣的棍子！他是我忿怒之杖、在我手中。我打發他來攻擊不拜上帝之國，吩咐他來擊打我所惱怒的人民，來擄掠擄掠物，來掠劫掠劫物，使他們被踐踏、像街上的泥土一樣。但他呢、卻不這樣思想；他心裏並不這樣打算；他心裏倒想毁滅，剪除不少的國。因為他說：『我的將帥不都是王麼？迦勒挪豈不像迦基米施麼？哈瑪豈不像亞珥拔麼？撒瑪利亞豈不像大馬色麼？我的手既抓到這些偶相之國，就是有雕像勝過耶路撒冷和撒瑪利亞的之雕像的，難道我不能辦耶路撒冷和她的偶像，正如我辦撒瑪利亞和她的偶相麼？』將來主在錫安山和耶路撒冷了結了他一切作為的時候，他必察罰亞述王心裏自大之表現和他眼目高傲之自炫。

永恆主必伸手攻擊北方，毁滅亞述；他必使尼尼微荒涼，乾旱如曠野。
