The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.”

Those who see visions will be put to shame. Those who try to figure out what is going to happen will be dishonored. All of them will cover their faces. I will not answer them.”

到那日，每個假先知說預言的時候，都必因自己的異象而蒙羞，也不再穿毛皮衣哄騙人；

我破壞假先知的預兆，使占卜者顯為愚妄；我顛覆了智慧人，使他們的知識變為愚拙；

掃羅求問耶和華，耶和華卻沒有藉著夢，或烏陵，或先知回應他。

堅持施行你的符咒和眾多法術吧！那些都是你從年輕時辛勞所得的，或許你能得益處，或許還能讓人恐懼呢！你因謀劃過多而筋疲力盡；現在就讓那些劃分天象、觀看星辰、在新月時說預言的都站出來吧，拯救你脫離那些將要臨到你的事！看哪！他們必像麥稭一樣被火燒毀，他們不能解救自己脫離威猛的火焰；這不是可以用來取暖的炭火，也不是可以坐在其面前的爐火。

掃羅就求問神：「我可以下去追趕非利士人嗎？你會把他們交在以色列人手中嗎？」那一天，神沒有回應他。

從前在以色列，當有人去求問神的時候，會這樣說：「走，我們到先見那裡去吧！」今天的先知，從前稱為先見。

揚尼和揚布列怎樣抵擋摩西，這些人也照樣抵擋真理；他們理性敗壞，在信仰上經不起考驗。然而，他們不能再進一步了，因為他們的無知會在眾人面前顯露出來，就像那兩個人一樣。

我們看不到自己的標幟，也不再有先知；在我們中間，沒有人知道這要到什麼時候。

撒母耳問掃羅：「你為什麼攪擾我，招我上來呢？」掃羅回答：「我面臨極大的危難：非利士人與我爭戰，神也離開了我，不再藉著先知或夢回應我。所以我召喚你來、指示我該怎麼做。」

如果你們不把這夢顯明給我，給你們的就只有一條法令。你們互相串通好了，要在我面前說謊言和亂語，直到時勢有所改變。現在你們要把這夢告訴我，好讓我知道你們能把夢的釋義講明給我。」那些迦勒底人在王面前回應說：「地上沒有人能講明王所要求的事；事實上，沒有任何一個偉大、有權勢的君王，向任何一個術士、占卜者或迦勒底人問過這樣的事。王所問的事，是件難事，除了不與屬肉體的人住在一起的神明，沒有誰能在王面前講明它。」
