Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.

Then they will cry out to the Lord, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done.

The time will come when Israel will cry out to the Lord. But he won’t answer them. In fact, he’ll turn his face away from them. They have done what is evil.

Then they will cry to the Lord, but he will not answer them; he will hide his face from them at that time, because they have made their deeds evil.

Then you beg the Lord for help in times of trouble! Do you really expect him to answer? After all the evil you have done, he won’t even look at you!”

And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

They cried, but[ there was] none to save[ them: even] unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice,[ yet] will I not hear them.

Woe unto the wicked![ it shall be] ill[ with him]: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Saying to a stock, Thou[ art] my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned[ their] back unto me, and not[ their] face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.But where[ are] thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for[ according to] the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love[ to have it] so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid[ his] face from you, that he will not hear.For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.None calleth for justice, nor[ any] pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works[ are] works of iniquity, and the act of violence[ is] in their hands.Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts[ are] thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction[ are] in their paths.The way of peace they know not; and[ there is] no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness,[ but] we walk in darkness.We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if[ we had] no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night;[ we are] in desolate places as dead[ men].We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but[ there is] none; for salvation,[ but] it is far off from us.For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions[ are] with us; and[ as for] our iniquities, we know them;In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.Yea, truth faileth; and he[ that] departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw[ it], and it displeased him that[ there was] no judgment.

They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but[ it is] to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God[ is] not among us?And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

And when the LORD saw[ it], he abhorred[ them], because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end[ shall be]: for they[ are] a very froward generation, children in whom[ is] no faith.

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time[ is] evil.In that day shall[ one] take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation,[ and] say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed[ it] from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.

Therefore it is come to pass,[ that] as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer[ shall be] abomination.

When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
