In that day people will ridicule you; they will taunt you with this mournful song:‘ We are utterly ruined; my people’s possession is divided up. He takes it from me! He assigns our fields to traitors.’”

到那日，人们要唱哀歌讥讽你们说，‘我们彻底完了，耶和华把我们的产业转给别人。祂竟拿走我们的产业，把田地分给掳掠我们的人。’”

到那日，必有人作歌讽刺你们，唱悲伤的哀歌，说：“我们彻底被毁灭了，我子民分内的产业，他竟转给别人了；他怎可从我这里挪去，把我们的田地分给掳掠我们的人（“分给掳掠我们的人”或译：“分给背道的人”）！”

到那日，必有人向你們提起悲慘的哀歌，譏刺說：我們全然敗落了！耶和華將我們的分轉歸別人，何竟使這分離開我們？他將我們的田地分給悖逆的人。

是日也、人將為爾作諷詞、發悲慘之哀歌曰、我儕悉敗、彼移我民之業、使其離我、以我田畝、分予悖逆之人、

當日人將為爾作哀歌、吟悲詞云、我民之業、為他人有、維彼敵人、得我田疇、我儕小民、渝胥以亡、

當是日人將為爾曹作諷歌、為爾曹作悲痛之哀歌云、我儕盡敗亡、敗亡或作衰敗彼使我民之業、為他人所得、使我民之業為他人所得原文作變我民之業使我所有、俱與我離、以我田疇、分予悖逆者、

At that time people will make fun of you. They will tease you by singing a song of sadness. They will pretend to be you and say,‘ We are totally destroyed. Our enemies have divided up our land. The Lord has taken it away from us! He has given our fields to those who turned against us.’ ”

In that day they shall take up a taunt song against you and moan bitterly, and say,“ We are utterly ruined; he changes the portion of my people; how he removes it from me! To an apostate he allots our fields.”

In that day your enemies will make fun of you by singing this song of despair about you:“ We are finished, completely ruined! God has confiscated our land, taking it from us. He has given our fields to those who betrayed us.”

In that day one will take up a taunt against you and lament mournfully, saying,“ We are totally ruined! He measures out the allotted land of my people. How he removes it from me! He allots our fields to traitors.”

On that day they will take up against you a song of mocking And utter a song of mourning and say,‘ We are completely destroyed! He exchanges the share of my people; How He removes it from me! To the apostate He apportions our fields.’

In that day one shall take up a proverb against you, And lament with a bitter lamentation, saying:‘ We are utterly destroyed! He has changed the heritage of my people; How He has removed it from me! To a turncoat He has divided our fields.’”

In that day shall they take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We are utterly ruined: he changeth the portion of my people: how doth he remove it from me! to the rebellious he divideth our fields.

In that day one will take up a taunt against you, and lament mournfully, saying,“ We are totally ruined! He measures out the allotted land of my people. How He removes it from me! He allots our fields to traitors.”

In that day shall[ one] take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation,[ and] say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed[ it] from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.

In that day people will sing this taunt song to you– they will mock you with this lament:‘ We are completely destroyed; they sell off the property of my people. How they remove it from me! They assign our fields to the conqueror.’

In that day they will take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, saying,‘ We are utterly ruined! My people’s possession is divided up. Indeed he takes it from me and assigns our fields to traitors!’”

“ Will not all of them taunt him with ridicule and scorn, saying,“‘ Woe to him who piles up stolen goods and makes himself wealthy by extortion! How long must this go on?’

The earth will be completely laid waste and totally plundered. The Lord has spoken this word.

I will bring a conqueror against you who live in Mareshah. The nobles of Israel will flee to Adullam.

I will weep and wail for the mountains and take up a lament concerning the wilderness grasslands. They are desolate and untraveled, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. The birds have all fled and the animals are gone.

At midday you will grope about like a blind person in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

This is what the Lord Almighty says:“ Consider now! Call for the wailing women to come; send for the most skillful of them.Let them come quickly and wail over us till our eyes overflow with tears and water streams from our eyelids.The sound of wailing is heard from Zion:‘ How ruined we are! How great is our shame! We must leave our land because our houses are in ruins.’”Now, you women, hear the word of the Lord; open your ears to the words of his mouth. Teach your daughters how to wail; teach one another a lament.Death has climbed in through our windows and has entered our fortresses; it has removed the children from the streets and the young men from the public squares.

Then Balaam spoke his message:“ Balak brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains.‘ Come,’ he said,‘ curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel.’

He carried into exile to Babylon the remnant, who escaped from the sword, and they became servants to him and his successors until the kingdom of Persia came to power.The land enjoyed its sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested, until the seventy years were completed in fulfillment of the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah.

“ I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth,” declares the Lord.

Then the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd; so they left him and went away.

Then he spoke his message:“ Arise, Balak, and listen; hear me, son of Zippor.

Put on sackcloth, you priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the house of your God.

There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass through your midst,” says the Lord.

until the Lord removed them from his presence, as he had warned through all his servants the prophets. So the people of Israel were taken from their homeland into exile in Assyria, and they are still there.The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Kuthah, Avva, Hamath and Sepharvaim and settled them in the towns of Samaria to replace the Israelites. They took over Samaria and lived in its towns.

I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon,” declares the Lord,“ and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin.I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp.This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth grieving for the betrothed of her youth.

David took up this lament concerning Saul and his son Jonathan,

How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave.Bitterly she weeps at night, tears are on her cheeks. Among all her lovers there is no one to comfort her. All her friends have betrayed her; they have become her enemies.After affliction and harsh labor, Judah has gone into exile. She dwells among the nations; she finds no resting place. All who pursue her have overtaken her in the midst of her distress.The roads to Zion mourn, for no one comes to her appointed festivals. All her gateways are desolate, her priests groan, her young women grieve, and she is in bitter anguish.Her foes have become her masters; her enemies are at ease. The Lord has brought her grief because of her many sins. Her children have gone into exile, captive before the foe.

Look! He advances like the clouds, his chariots come like a whirlwind, his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! We are ruined!

you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!

“‘ Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb about you:“ Like mother, like daughter.”

Why, Lord, do you make us wander from your ways and harden our hearts so we do not revere you? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes that are your inheritance.For a little while your people possessed your holy place, but now our enemies have trampled down your sanctuary.

If I go into the country, I see those slain by the sword; if I go into the city, I see the ravages of famine. Both prophet and priest have gone to a land they know not.’”

which he unrolled before me. On both sides of it were written words of lament and mourning and woe.

Hear this word, Israel, this lament I take up concerning you:
