厥後、耶穌出行、見一稅吏名理味者、坐於稅關、諭之曰：『從予！』遂舍棄一切、起而從之。理味設盛筵、款耶穌於其家。同席者有稅吏、及其他多人。法利塞人與經生見而不悅、謂耶穌門徒曰：『爾等胡為與稅吏罪人共席？』耶穌曰：『無疾者不需醫、惟病者需之。予來非召義者、正欲召罪人悔過自新耳。』若輩又問曰：『如望門徒頻齋久禱、法利塞人亦然、惟爾門徒亦飲亦食何也？』耶穌曰：『新壻尚在、安能令新壻之友守齋乎？他日新壻被奪以去、斯若曹守齋時矣。』復設一喻曰：『人未有截新衣以補舊衣者也。不然、則徒損新衣、且所截之新布、於舊衣亦未見相稱耳人亦未有置新酒於舊囊者也。不然、新酒將發而穿囊、不第酒漏、而囊亦毀。必以新酒納諸新囊、斯克兩全。

既而他往、見亞爾弗子理味坐稅關、召之曰：『從余。』起而從之。耶穌嘗讌理味家、諸稅吏罪人與耶穌及其門徒同席、蓋從之遊者甚眾也。法利塞人見其與稅吏罪人共食、因語其門徒曰：『彼乃與稅吏罪人共食耶？』耶穌聞而答曰：『康健者不需醫、正唯病者需之。吾之來也、非召義者、乃召罪人。』如望之弟子及法利塞人恆守齋、或來問耶穌曰：『如望弟子及法利塞人之徒、恆守齋、而汝徒獨不守齋何也？』耶穌對曰：『新壻在、賀婚之友能守齋乎？蓋新壻一日與之偕、若輩即一日不宜守齋。惟時將屆、新壻被挈而去、斯其友守齋時矣。人未有以新布補舊衣者、恐新布頓縮、反損舊衣、而破綻益甚。人亦未有以新酒貯舊囊者、恐新酒醱而突囊、酒既漏而囊亦不保。故新酒惟宜貯諸新囊耳。』

有稅吏長名石開者、富室也、欲一睹耶穌為快、以人稠而身侏儒、不得見、乃趨至耶穌必經之地、攀登桑樹冀得一瞻豐采焉。耶穌既至、仰見其人、呼之曰『石開速下、今日予應宿爾家。』石開即下、欣然迎之。眾見而非議曰：『彼竟投宿罪人家耶！』石開恭立而白主曰：『主、願以家貲之半、施濟貧人、如有詐取於人者、願四倍以償。』耶穌曰：『救恩臨於此宅、即在今日！夫彼亦亞伯漢之後也。且人子之來正欲追求迷失之人、而援救之耳。』

亞爾咈子雅谷伯、奮銳黨西門、

又有安德烈、裴理伯、巴爾多樂茂、瑪竇、多默、亞爾弗子雅谷伯、樹德、加納人西門；

慈伯德子雅各伯暨弟若望、斐理伯、巴爾多祿茂、多默、稅吏瑪竇、亞爾咈子雅谷伯、樹德、

行經加利利河濱、見兄弟二人、一為西門即伯鐸祿、一為其弟安德烈、正投網海中；漁夫也。耶穌謂之曰：『從予、將使爾為生靈漁夫。』二人立棄其網而從之。復前行、又見兄弟二人、即慈伯德子雅各伯暨弟若望、與父慈伯德修網舟中；召之、亦即捨網謝父而從。

既入城、登一樓房、即諸徒之所寓也。諸徒者、伯鐸祿、若望、雅谷伯、安德烈、斐理伯、多默、巴多樂茂、瑪竇、亞爾弗子雅各伯、奮銳黨西門、雅谷伯之弟樹德是也。

稅吏罪人群趨耶穌聆訓、經生與法利塞人竊議其接納罪人、且與同席、

按其所悅樂之時、惠然以其聖子啟示吾心、令我傳道於外邦。吾即當機立斷、不屑謀之於血氣肉情、

二者孰孝？』對曰：『長子。』耶穌曰：『吾實語爾、稅吏娼妓、將先爾曹入天主國。蓋如望以義路開導於爾、爾不之信；而稅吏娼妓、則信之矣。爾見其事。猶未能悔悟而起信也。
