耶穌正在趕鬼（一個使人啞巴的鬼）；鬼一出來，啞巴就說出話來；羣眾都希奇。

有人帶着一個耳聾舌結的人來見耶穌，求他給他按手。耶穌暗暗地領他離開羣眾、到一邊去，就用指頭放進他的兩耳中，吐唾沫點觸他的舌頭，望天歎息，對他說：『以法大！』就是說：『敞開吧！』他的耳朵就開了，他舌頭的結立刻解放了，說話也清楚了。耶穌叮囑他們不要告訴人；但是他越叮囑他們，他們越宣傳。眾人分外地驚駭說：『各樣事他都作得好；居然使聾子能聽見，使不能說話的人也能說話了！』

那時瘸子必跳躍像鹿，啞巴的舌頭必能歡呼。曠野必有水暴出，原野必有溪河湧流。

永恆主對他說：『誰使人有口呢？誰使人口啞、耳聾、眼明、眼瞎呢？豈不是我永恆主麼？現在去吧，我一定要賜給你口才，要指教你所應當說的。』

有一大羣人上他跟前來，帶着瘸子、殘廢的、瞎子、啞巴、和許多別的病人，都丟在他腳旁；他治好了他們；以致那羣人看見了啞巴能說話，殘廢的康健，瘸子能走路，瞎子能看見，都希奇，將榮耀歸與以色列的上帝。

你在埃及地顯神迹奇事，直到今日、又在以色列中、又在普通人中間、也都施行異能，為你自己立了名，正如今日一樣。

那人就起來，立刻拿起鋪蓋來，當眾人面前出去了；以致眾人都驚奇，將榮耀歸與上帝說：『我們從來沒有見過這樣的事啊。』

神人以利沙聽說以色列王撕裂衣服，就打發人去見王說：『你為甚麼撕裂衣服啊？請叫他來找我，他就知道以色列中有神言人了。』

在猶大上帝將自己使人認識；在以色列他的名實為至大。

耶穌聽了這些話，就希奇他，便轉過身來對跟從他的羣眾說：『我告訴你們，這麼大的信心、就是在以色列中、我也沒有遇見過。』
