And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said,“ Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”

有一次，耶穌正在驅趕一個使人成為啞巴的鬼魔。鬼魔一出去，啞巴就說出話來，眾人都感到驚奇。

有人把一個又聾又啞的人帶到耶穌面前，懇求耶穌按手在他身上。耶穌把他從人群中單獨帶到一邊去，用指頭伸進他的耳朵，吐唾沫來抹他的舌頭，然後望天噓了一口氣，對他說：「以法達！」——這意思是「開了吧」。他的耳朵立刻開了，舌結也解了，說話也清楚了。耶穌吩咐他們不要告訴任何人。但是，他越是吩咐，他們越是大大傳揚。人們極其驚訝，說：「他所做的一切都好！他甚至使聾子聽見，使啞巴說話。」

那時，瘸腿的必如鹿跳躍，啞巴的舌頭也必歡唱。在曠野將有水湧出，在荒漠將有溪湧流。

有一大群人來到他面前，帶著瘸腿的、瞎眼的、殘疾的、聾啞的還有許多其他人，把他們放在耶穌腳前；耶穌就使他們痊癒了。結果眾人看見聾啞的說話，殘疾的康復，瘸腿的行走，瞎眼的看見，都感到驚奇，就榮耀以色列的神。

那個人就立刻起來，拿起墊子在大家面前出去了。結果大家都驚訝，就榮耀神，說：「我們從來沒有見過這樣的事。」

在猶大，神被人所認識；在以色列，他的名為大。

耶穌聽了這些話，十分感慨，轉過身來對跟隨他的那群人說：「我告訴你們：在以色列我沒有見過這麼大的信心。」
