And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said,“ Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.”

有一次，耶稣正在驱赶一个使人成为哑巴的鬼魔。鬼魔一出去，哑巴就说出话来，众人都感到惊奇。

有人把一个又聋又哑的人带到耶稣面前，恳求耶稣按手在他身上。耶稣把他从人群中单独带到一边去，用指头伸进他的耳朵，吐唾沫来抹他的舌头，然后望天嘘了一口气，对他说：“以法达！”——这意思是“开了吧”。他的耳朵立刻开了，舌结也解了，说话也清楚了。耶稣吩咐他们不要告诉任何人。但是，他越是吩咐，他们越是大大传扬。人们极其惊讶，说：“他所做的一切都好！他甚至使聋子听见，使哑巴说话。”

那时，瘸腿的必如鹿跳跃，哑巴的舌头也必欢唱。在旷野将有水涌出，在荒漠将有溪涌流。

有一大群人来到他面前，带着瘸腿的、瞎眼的、残疾的、聋哑的还有许多其他人，把他们放在耶稣脚前；耶稣就使他们痊愈了。结果众人看见聋哑的说话，残疾的康复，瘸腿的行走，瞎眼的看见，都感到惊奇，就荣耀以色列的神。

那个人就立刻起来，拿起垫子在大家面前出去了。结果大家都惊讶，就荣耀神，说：“我们从来没有见过这样的事。”

在犹大，神被人所认识；在以色列，他的名为大。

耶稣听了这些话，十分感慨，转过身来对跟随他的那群人说：“我告诉你们：在以色列我没有见过这么大的信心。”
