They brought to him a deaf man who had difficulty speaking and begged Jesus to lay his hand on him.So he took him away from the crowd in private. After putting his fingers in the man’s ears and spitting, he touched his tongue.Looking up to heaven, he sighed deeply and said to him,“ Ephphatha!”( that is,“ Be opened!”).Immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was loosened, and he began to speak clearly.He ordered them to tell no one, but the more he ordered them, the more they proclaimed it.They were extremely astonished and said,“ He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

Then the lame will leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute will sing for joy, for water will gush in the wilderness, and streams in the desert;

The LORD said to him,“ Who placed a mouth on humans? Who makes a person mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?Now go! I will help you speak and I will teach you what to say.”

and large crowds came to him, including the lame, the blind, the crippled, those unable to speak, and many others. They put them at his feet, and he healed them.So the crowd was amazed when they saw those unable to speak talking, the crippled restored, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they gave glory to the God of Israel.

You performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt and still do today, both in Israel and among all mankind. You made a name for yourself, as is the case today.

Immediately he got up, took the mat, and went out in front of everyone. As a result, they were all astounded and gave glory to God, saying,“ We have never seen anything like this!”

When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, he sent a message to the king:“ Why have you torn your clothes? Have him come to me, and he will know there is a prophet in Israel.”

God is known in Judah; his name is great in Israel.

Jesus heard this and was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said,“ I tell you, I have not found so great a faith even in Israel.”
