耶穌既抵會董家、見吹籥者已至、人聲嘈雜、狀至紊亂；乃諭之曰：

When Jesus entered the synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing pipes,

Then Jeremiah chanted a song of mourning for Josiah. And all the male and female singers speak about Josiah in their songs of mourning to this day. And they made them an ordinance in Israel; behold, they are also written in the Lamentations.

While He was still speaking, people* came from the house of the synagogue official, saying,“ Your daughter has died; why bother the Teacher further?”But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken,* said to the synagogue official,“ Do not be afraid, only believe.”And He allowed no one to accompany Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.They* came to the house of the synagogue official, and He* saw a commotion, and people loudly weeping and wailing.And after entering, He* said to them,“ Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child has not died, but is asleep.”And they began laughing at Him. But putting them all outside, He* took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and* entered the room where the child was in bed.

While He was still speaking, someone* came from the house of the synagogue official, saying,“ Your daughter has died; do not trouble the Teacher anymore.”But when Jesus heard this, He responded to him,“ Do not be afraid any longer; only believe, and she will be made well.”When He came to the house, He did not allow anyone to enter with Him except Peter, John, and James, and the girl’s father and mother.

While He was saying these things to them, behold, a synagogue official came and bowed down before Him, and said,“ My daughter has just died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will become alive again.”Jesus got up from the table and began to accompany him, along with His disciples.

They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, and say,‘ We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a song of mourning, and you did not weep.’

and say,‘ We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a song of mourning, and you did not mourn.’

So Peter got ready and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the room upstairs; and all the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing all the tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.

This is what the Lord of armies says:“ Consider and call for the mourning women, that they may come; And send for the skillful women, that they may come!Have them hurry and take up a wailing for us, So that our eyes may shed tears, And our eyelids flow with water.For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion:‘ How devastated we are! We are put to great shame, For we have abandoned the land Because they have torn down our homes.’ ”Now hear the word of the Lord, you women, And let your ears receive the word of His mouth; Teach your daughters wailing, And have every woman teach her neighbor a song of mourning.
